"It's one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it's another thing to make a portrait of who they are. "
~Paul Capinigro
My personal goal in both my job as a teacher and as a photographer is to build people up and hope they are able to eventually see themselves through my eyes. I love bringing out the best in people, whether it's inspiring and encouraging young minds in my full-time gig as a teacher, or through photography while having fun and making clients feel like their best selves during photo sessions.
You could say that I was born with the photography bug. We were surrounded by amazing photography growing up in my small town of Bovey, Minnesota (home of the studio that produced the world-renowned Picture Grace).
I was lucky enough to tag along with these amazing photographers from Enstrom Studio on their summer shoots, and play photographer in their studio with my friends on the weekends.
My dad was an avid photographer and started me young. Throughout the years and several jobs in photography, I learned to process film, develop prints in a dark room, color correct photos on machines, and had lots and lots of shooting practice with friends and family (whether they wanted it or not, just ask my nephews!). I've been officially booking gigs for over ten years now.
